Kies not Installing - Do not close applications. (A reboot will be required.)

Hi Guys,

I'm tryna install Kies on my Windows 7 64bit OS, and its not letting me.

Samsung Kies version: 2.0.0.11044_11_3
Downloaded just 10mins ago.

The error message I get is on the screenshot attached, saying:
"Do not close applications. (A reboot will be required.)"

Can someone advise me what to do. I tried that a few days back and same issue.

Try the following,

1> Reboot your computer and try again.
2> Download a fresh installation of kies from SamsungApps.com
3> Try installing from a different administrator account.

Just tried that.
Also, tried clearing all the temp files, and reinstalled, and get the very same error message  ???

Figured out the solution finally...

InstallShield run KiesTrayAgent during the 1st setup process, and that's why it didn't go through, and that's why it wouldn't let any other setup attempt happen.

The resolution is as follows:
- run Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, scroll to the process named KiesTrayAgent, right click on it and choose "End Process Tree"
- open the temp folder by opening start menu and typing %temp% (for Windows Vista and 7 Windows XP will need to go to start menu and choose Run)
- delete everything there, and when advised that some files cannot be deleted, ignore these files as they're in use by a program
- run the setup file, Voila!  :)

Hope this helps in case you come across the same error.

Kool...... BTW Uninstalling old Kies and then installing the new Kies is always a good idea.
